Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply in Summer: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Thursday that the government’s primary target is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people without causing any inconvenience despite the increasing demand for electricity due to intense summer heat in the state.

In view of the increasing demand for energy across the country, the Deputy Chief Minister held a review meeting on the state’s power supply situation with senior officials of the Energy department at Praja Bhavan.

Authorities informed the Minister that the use of air conditioners and coolers in homes and workplaces has increased significantly with increasing temperatures. This, combined with agricultural requirements, has placed additional pressure on the electricity grid.

Despite the nationwide stress in the electricity market, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the authorities to procure additional energy through electricity exchange to ensure that there is no shortage for the state’s needs.

He stressed that power supply to hospitals, drinking water supply schemes and other essential services should not be disrupted and called for constant monitoring. He also directed that all existing power generation units in the state should be used at full capacity and hydropower generation should be managed efficiently.

With temperatures expected to rise further in the coming days, he advised all power utilities to work in coordination and prepare advance plans. Officials assured the minister that the state’s energy system remains stable and adequate regulations are in place to overcome any challenges.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the authorities to closely monitor the situation and take all necessary steps to ensure a reliable and quality power supply to all categories of consumers. He reiterated that providing quality power was the government’s top priority and instructed field level personnel to remain constantly alert.
