Practically, the Ministry of Interior has less than a month to find alternative accommodation for asylum seekers at the EPPING’s Bell Hotel.
Hope – Maybe although not expectation – Judicial on Tuesday It does not constitute a precedent.
The EPPING Council should return to court in autumn and it is possible to make a temporary ban on housing asylum seekers permanent.
However, the lawyers of the Ministry of Interior acknowledged that this was more than a local challenge at the foot of the Great London.
The decision said that the government could “significantly affect the ability to host asylum seekers in hotels in the United Kingdom.
The use of hotels fell from 402 to 210 at the summits, but some contracts will be in force and will seek pressure to find alternative accommodation at a greater speed than the ministers.
And although the number of asylum seekers in hotels decreased in the first three months of the year, 32,000 people remained.
However, this practical re -housing headache can become a political migraine.
The lawyers of the Ministry of Interior suggested that the use of EPPING HOTEL was the risk of “a risk of driving a driving force for more violent protests”.
Reform British leader Nigel Farage praised what he described as the courage of the local community, and expressed his hope that EPPING would inspire others throughout the country.
He certainly did not defend violent demonstrations, but even the abundance of peaceful protests elsewhere would require an increase in the public order police.
The government has concerns that this can distract resources from other crime priorities.
And Mr. Farage’s colleague Richard Tice said that the councils operated by reform will urgently discover legal action similar to EPPING
Shadow Interior Minister Chris Philp said he would welcome other councils following the leadership of conservative controlled EPPING.
The Broxbourne Council in Hertfordshire also said that it would do this exactly.
There is a wider political cost for the government.
While the asylum seekers were located in Bell Hotel under the last conservative government, the promotion around the legal challenge, although it was moved in 2024, enabled the government politicians to focus on the government’s migration and asylum record.
Government promised Now, not to use hotels until the end of this parliament, but now they are moving fast enough and in the first place to prevent asylum seekers from irregular routes to do enough questions about whether they do.
And all this draws attention to what a politically toxic issue is for ministers.
