Holocaust survivor warns of ‘history repeating itself’ | News

A Holocaust survivor has warned that ‘history is repeating itself’ as he addresses violence around the world.
Joanna Millan, born Bela Rosenthal, was deported with her mother to the Theresienstadt ghetto in northern Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) in 1943. Ms. Millan’s father was sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, where he was killed on arrival.
Speaking about the current state of the world at a Holocaust commemoration ceremony in North London on Tuesday, Millan said it was “turmoil”.
“I think history is repeating itself,” he said, emphasizing that “appeasement is not the solution.”
“We must stand up against bullying,” he said.
