Erin Patterson trial: Judge gives update to jury in alleged mushroom poisoning case
The judge, who supervised Erin Patterson’s tripartite murder, gave an update to the jury members about what they can expect for next week.
When the jury returned from between Tuesday afternoon, Justice Christopher Beale advised the 14 -person panel to wait until next week.
“I will not start my fault until Monday to keep you in the cycle only about the timeline,” the judge said.
“This accusation is not likely to end, let’s say it can be poured until Wednesday. I can finish on Tuesday afternoon on my back.
“But I’m telling you just to organize your work, and I’ll make you another update to you as you move forward.”
The update arrived after the Crown prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC finished the closing promises, and Ms. Patterson’s lawyer Colin Mandy SC started.
50 -year -old Patterson faced a hearing of killing her husband Simon Patterson’s parents and aunt, and on July 29, 2023 of trying to kill a poisonous beef well with Wellington.
The jury told me that he did not deliberately poison his guests or want them to be damaged.
After the completion of the evidence in the case last week, Justice Beale told the jury members that their closing arguments expected each of them to last a few days before they started their accusation.
He said he would contain three pieces; Instructions on legal principles, identifying the basic issues in the case and summarizing evidence and arguments.
On Tuesday, Dr. Rogers finished his last address, arguing that there was no other alternative explanation for deliberately supplying MS Patterson’s death caps and involving them in dinner who wants to kill them.
On the other hand, Mr. Mandy began his address, arguing that the crown had “chose cherries” and ignored others to support the hypotheses of the crown.
“Erin Patterson had a reason to keep these people in his world, so they could continue to support him and his children … Why would he take the wonderful, active, loving grandmother and grandfather away from their children?” questioned.
Now the hearing continues in the eighth week.
