The ESPN personality appeared to take issue with Woods’ apparent privacy concerns as the reason he didn’t hire a driver. The report emerged in humans at the beginning of the week.

“Invade his privacy,” Smith said. “We don’t care about his privacy. We don’t care right now. You’ve been behind the wheel of a drunk car three times. Nobody’s trying to know your business. What we want to know is that you don’t get behind the wheel of a damn car while drunk. You’re lucky you didn’t kill someone. That’s what we want to hear. Nothing else is our business. Nothing else is our business.”

This marks Woods’ second DUI arrest in the last decade. He was also detained on Jupiter Island in 2017 after falling asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle at 3 a.m. after taking prescription drugs.

Woods was also involved in a rollover crash in Los Angeles in 2021 that resulted in serious leg injuries and emergency surgeries; That’s what he meant during field sobriety tests. At the time, police said an empty, unlabeled pill bottle was found in his vehicle. He was not charged in the accident.

Woods was found with two hydrocodone pills in his pants pocket during Friday’s crash investigation, according to a police affidavit.

“Damn that privacy. I don’t care what you’re worried about. You must have a pretty questionable life that, as a billionaire, you don’t even want to hire a chauffeur,” Smith continued. “There’s something wrong. There’s something wrong with that. You want your privacy. Privacy from what? What’s the driver going to do? ‘Cause he dropped you off somewhere he doesn’t know where? I mean, damn, what are you trying to hide? It’s a rhetorical question because I don’t care. And none of us should care. It’s not our job. What’s our job, you stay away from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. I’m high on whatever drug it is.”

Woods said he is committed to taking the time he needs to return to a “healthier, stronger and more focused place both personally and professionally.”

“These three times, he was caught by law enforcement behind the wheel of a drunken vehicle,” Smith said. “Screw your statements. You don’t care. You don’t care. What we want to hear from you is that we don’t need to worry about you getting behind the wheel of a drunk car again. That’s it,” Smith added.

“Go ahead and get better. Got it? And live your life. And be at peace, man. No one wants to hurt you. But what you did probably hurt someone else. You’re lucky you didn’t kill someone, if not yourself.”
