Eubank vs Benn 2: Conor Benn ends 35-year wait for revenge

Saturday’s event was promoted as “unfinished business”, but in the build-up that didn’t quite seem to be true; There was no controversy regarding the outcome of the first competition.
Perhaps it was a reminder of the rivalry between their fathers, who fought to a controversial draw in their second and final meeting in 1993.
It was a feud that left the British public shaken but unsettled.
The scars of that fight are still haunting Benn’s father, Nigel, and at the post-fight press conference he was dragged into that mentality again.
“HE [Eubank Sr] He just likes to be the center of attention, he doesn’t care about his son,” said Nigel Benn.
“I don’t think I’ll talk to him again. He’s trying to quote scripture but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
As Nigel became more and more excited, his son began to laugh, probably thinking that he was Eubank Jr. thirty years later. she could imagine him talking about.
Although he still held a grudge, he felt that he was able to bring some closure to the feud through Nigel’s son.
“I don’t know if Conor knows but this is my last training camp,” he added.
“I’m not going to do this anymore. I have three lovely children in Australia who need me. I have a lovely wife who needs me.”
The sons were never meant to fight. Eubank Jr is seven years older than him and Conor Benn has worked in two lower weight classes for most of his career.
But his desire to return to the boxing arena with the offspring of his two icons – Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn – was insatiable.
Character-wise, they couldn’t be further apart.
Eubank Sr. is a performer who often draws attention from his son with his dance moves, while the elder Benn is honest and to the point.
At the post-fight press conference, Nigel had ditched his cream suit and donned his blue Team Benn tracksuit.
He entered the room next to his son and they were followed by a group of around 20 people made up of family, friends and coaches.
Benn made sure to pay tribute to each of them after they helped him through the “dark times” when he was banned from boxing after testing positive for a banned substance.
“There were a lot of people in the locker room who were there for me during those dark times,” Benn said.
“I wasn’t strong enough to do this alone, and they gave me wisdom and helped me carry it. The gain is theirs.”
