Eugene Mirman pulled from burning car at NH toll plaza, hospitalized

“Bob’s Burgers” voice actor Eugene Mirman was hospitalized after being rescued from a fiery crash in New Hampshire on Tuesday (March 31).

According to a press release from New Hampshire State Police, troopers responded to calls around 11:55 a.m. claiming that Mirman was driving on the FE Everett Turnpike when he crashed into the Bedford Toll Plaza and his car caught fire and he was trapped inside.

The voice actor was removed from the car through a window by a veteran state trooper, whose name is withheld and who happened to be assigned to Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security team, who happened to be involved in the crash. Governor Ayotte and other witnesses helped pull Mirman to safety.

“Of course, their actions were heroic,” Col. Mark B. Hall said in a press release. “They put themselves in danger without hesitation to help someone in need.”

“Eugene was in a terrible car accident. He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders, and hospital staff who saved him,” a rep for the actor said. People. “He is grateful for his recovery. We request privacy for Eugene and his family at this time as they focus on recovering from their injuries.”

After being rescued, Mirman was “transported by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries.”

Governor Ayotte spoke about the incident in a post: XIt reads: “I would like to thank my security team, the Police and bystanders who rushed to assist at the scene of the accident for their courageous life-saving efforts today. Joe and I are praying for the full recovery of the injured driver today.”

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Mirman began his career in Hollywood as a stand-up comedian known for his intellectual and often deliberately awkward style of comedy. He has released numerous comedy specials and albums, including “Eugene Mirman’s Absurd Nightclub Comedy”, “En Garde, Society”, “God Is a Twelve-Year-Old Boy with Asperger’s Syndrome” and others.

He also has an extensive career as a voice actor and is best known as the voice of Gene Belcher in the TV series “Bob’s Burgers”, which he has appeared in since 2011.

“It’s been amazing watching him grow,” she told Vulture in July 2017. “It was amazing to be a part of something that families watch together. There’s something beautiful about a show that can be weird but also really connect with people.”

The television show’s popularity led to the creation of “The Bob’s Burgers Movie” in 2022, which follows the family as they try to keep their restaurant afloat.

In reflecting on the show’s longevity, Mirman explained that he saw it as “a genre distraction from what was immediately going on.”

“The series is not full of travel ban jokes, but it is a warm and accepting world with all kinds of people. In a different time, it could perhaps have been described as making some kind of statement,” he said.

“But at a time when everyone is being robbed of their health care, perhaps this doesn’t seem to make political sense,” he continued. “I really think everyone should do what they want to do, and whoever the audience is, I hope they find it.”
