Restrictions near Red Fort ahead of UNESCO event until December 13; Check affected areas and diversions

Delhi Traffic Police has issued warnings as major restrictions are in place near the Red Fort from December 8 to 13 due to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event. Important routes including Ring Road, Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg and SPM Marg may face closure; Designated parking is recommended.

The 20th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage will take place at the Red Fort from 8 to 13 December 2025. The event is expected to draw large crowds and cause significant traffic disruptions in central Delhi.

Delhi Traffic Police has implemented special traffic regulations and advisories to ensure smooth flow and pedestrian safety. Restrictions and guidance will be valid from 08.00 in the morning until 21.00 in the evening every day.

Ways Likely to Be Affected

Authorities have asked commuters to avoid some busy roads where traffic may be stopped or restricted:

  • Ring Road (Rajghat to ISBT Kashmir Gate)
  • Netaji Subhash Marg
  • Nishad Raj Marg
  • SPM Margin

A complete traffic ban may be imposed on Netaji Subhash Marg and Nishad Raj Marg during the event. Vehicles heading towards Chandni Chowk may be diverted to alternative routes as follows:

  • Chhatta Rail Chowk
  • T Point Subhash Marg
  • Shanti Van Chowk
  • GPO Square
  • Delhi Gate
  • Hanuman Mandir Pass

Passengers are asked to plan their journeys and choose alternative routes to avoid delays.

Parking Facilities for Visitors

Visitors to the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk are advised to use designated parking areas only. Unauthorized or roadside parking should be avoided. Available parking facilities include:

  • Parade Ground, Netaji Subhash Marg
  • ASI Car Park, Red Fort, Nishad Raj Marg
  • Dangal Maidan Car Park, SPM Marg
  • Omaxe Mall Car Park, HC Sen Road
  • Church Mission Road Parking Lot
