Man charged over theft of medals, wedding rings in two burglaries

Service medals, wedding rings, cash and designer bags were among the items stolen during two burglaries in the local suburbs earlier this month, leading to a 33-year-old man being charged with a string of offences.

Police allege that at around 3.55pm on Friday, May 1, the defendant forced his way into a residence in Daring Place, Wilson, and stole several items of sentimental value, including wedding rings and service medals.

It is also alleged that at around 3.15pm on Sunday, May 3, the defendant broke into a house in Glennon Way, Rossmoyne, and stole designer bags and cash.

The defendant was seen driving a white Mercedes Benz X156 on Daly Street, Belmont, at around 11.20am on Monday, May 4, and was arrested.

Police seized money and designer bags from the vehicle, but some other items are still missing.

The Forrestdale man was charged with burglary, aggravated burglary and committing, burglary and committing burglary, larceny from dwelling/house over $10,000, no license to drive (never held), carrying a controlled weapon, possession of stolen or illegally obtained property, and possession of methylamphetamine.

His next hearing will be held at Armadale Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 16.
