‘India moved faster than everybody else in ripping China’; US leader’s big statement | India News

Former US Diplomat Lindsey Ford made striking statements about India’s increasing dominance in geopolitical turmoil.

The Donald Trump administration’s civility towards Pakistan while jeopardizing ties with India has raised concerns not only among Republicans but also among Democrats and US Congressional leaders.

The US Congress has repeatedly asked Trump to improve ties with India to keep China in check. On Wednesday, former US diplomat Lindsey Ford expressed the same concern.
Addressing the US Congressional Commission, he said: “India has moved faster than anyone else in removing China from its telecom sector and social media apps. India has a harsh and realistic view of the challenges posed by China that our friends in Europe need to hear.”

He praised New Delhi’s pragmatic approach to the growing Chinese dominance.

India has decisively taken the lead in banning Chinese telecom equipment and apps like TikTok in the wake of the 2020 Galwan conflict, citing espionage risks through embedded spyware; It is moving faster than its counterparts in the US and EU and is still debating restrictions.

This pragmatic stance on China’s security threats, from border violations to data breaches.

Ford also spoke about India’s relations with Russia, warning Washington against pushing New Delhi to sever ties with Moscow, which he warned could undermine rather than benefit the India-US partnership.

These statements come a few weeks after India and the US announced a trade deal under which the US reduced tariffs from 50% to 18% and India reduced reciprocal tariffs on US products to zero.

Additionally, Commissioner Jonathan Stivers asked a panel of senior India-US experts about the implications of India-US ties on US-Pakistan ties. He said: “If a new US government wants to make India its top priority, what is the biggest thing we can offer India to build trust? Would that be severing relations with Pakistan?”

Responding to the US-India question, Lindsy Dord said, “America should take into account the concerns India has expressed about Pakistan. This includes Pakistan taking tactics, technology and training from the West and taking them to China. The US and Western countries need to question these concerns.”

While Ford’s statements touch on the fundamental concerns about Pakistan, China and Russia in the US foreign policy towards India, they also touch on India’s rapid rise at the global level with a pragmatic approach.
