As Tamil Nadu gears up for the results of the Assembly polls, two Dravidian majors – DMK and AIADMK – are keeping their fingers crossed to see whose votes the debutant Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) drains more. Actor C. Joseph Vijay’s entry into the party is expected to create surprises.
District-wise and margin-wise analysis of the last two elections in 2016 and 2021 shows that the AIADMK must not only maintain its dominance in the western region in the recently concluded 2026 polls but also gain ground in the northern, central and Greater Chennai regions, which it handed over to the DMK-led alliance in 2021 to return to power.
