It was reported that a major city in Russia was shaken by an explosion that occurred after a car burst into flames. Initial reports circulating in Russian news and Telegram accounts suggest that a car fire broke out in the city of Balashikha.
In the harrowing photos shared by the Ukrainian account Exilenova+, apparently taken after the alleged explosion, there appears to be a raging fire and thick black smoke rising from the flames. A short clip also appears showing the moments before the explosion; A car slowly moves along parked cars before the explosion occurs.
Russian news outlet Readovka reported on Telegram that the alleged explosion occurred at 17.30 local time.
It was reported that the driver had just gotten into the vehicle and started driving when the alleged explosion occurred. According to the information obtained, there was a driver in the vehicle at the time of the explosion.
Balashikha is the most populous city in Moscow Oblast [province] It is located approximately 25 km east of Moscow centre. It is also an important center for Russian military personnel.
