Export price fixed at ₹8 a kg for top-grade papaya in Annamayya district

Annameya Regional Administration, Papaya farmers to protect the interests of the upper -class Papaya’nın export price La 8 kg and second -class variety of LA 7 fixed. New prices will be in force on Wednesday, September 10th.

After the announcement, the regional collector Sridhar Chamakuri said that it was decided to prevent price manipulation by traders and intermediaries and ensure that farmers get a fair return from their products. The collector also warned that a criminal proceedings will be initiated against merchants offering rates below the fixed price. Papaya cultivation is a lively horticultural activity in the Annayya region, spread over 10,000 hectares in Railway Kodur, Chitvel and adjacent latches of the Rajampeta Department. The crop continues to be an important source of livelihood for thousands of growers.

Frequent price fluctuations and participation in the fixing of merchant prices has put cultivators in their compassion in recent years. A few weeks ago, when farmers complained that they had to sell their products under one kg, they attracted the attention of the regional administration and led to the current action.
