Extortion claim turns fatal: Hindu man, Amrit Mondal, beaten to death in Bangladesh – The Economic Times Video

Days after the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu man in Bangladesh was beaten to death by a mob for alleged extortion. According to local newspaper The Daily Star, Amrit Mondal, also known as Samrat, was lynched to death on December 25. The incident took place on December 24 in Hosendanga village of Kalimohor union in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari. Meanwhile, the Interim Government of Bangladesh made a statement and said that the incident was not related to social violence. The statement also claimed that Amrit Mondal alias Samrat has been “accused” in multiple serious criminal cases. Earlier, India summoned the Bangladesh High Commissioner for the second time in a week on December 24. The call came after Dipu Chandra Das was lynched in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district over allegations of blasphemy. The brutal murder of the 27-year-old also sparked widespread condemnation and protests in various parts of India.
