F1 star Lewis Hamilton reveals that he suffered a serious neck injury in a testing crash
Formula 1 is in Austria for a race at the Red Bull Ring, but fresh in everyone’s minds is the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago, where Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton took the podium again.
It was the Briton’s 106th grand prix victory, but his first with the Ferrari team he joined in 2025.
The win was seen as a comeback story, but many thought Hamilton had just come back from a disastrous 2025 season for himself and Ferrari.

It turns out this was actually a flashback from much more.
Hamilton participated in a special pre-season test with Ferrari in early 2025 and crashed during this test. The crash was reported at the time, but its severity was not known until this week.

The crash, which ironically took place at the same Barcelona circuit where Hamilton won two weeks earlier, left him with a pretty serious neck injury.
“I hit the wall very hard in testing last year,” Hamilton said. Athletic. “One of the discs in my neck hit a nerve. So I couldn’t do much for about nine weeks.”

During this time, Hamilton said he had daily chiropractic appointments and had trouble sleeping.
“I had painkillers, I had to get shots,” he said. “I did everything I could to fix it.”
The irony is that Hamilton participated in pre-season testing and missed several races in those nine weeks because of a sore neck.
Formula 1 drivers train their necks to withstand the extreme G-forces they encounter during races; Therefore, imagine having to overcome those who have such a disability.

Hamilton will look to follow up his win in Spain with another strong performance in Austria. It wasn’t a hot start to the weekend in Austria as he finished fifth in both of Friday’s practice sessions.
However, he finished ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc in both sessions.
