Facial Recognition Fails Bald Worker, Bizarre Fix Sparks Laughter in Telangana Village

Mahabubabad: In an interesting incident that highlights the glitches in technology, a daily wage laborer in Komatipalli village of Inugurthi mandal had trouble marking his attendance under the employment guarantee scheme as a facial recognition application could not identify him due to his shaved head.

Laborer Malyala Srinivas had recently returned after shaving his head at a temple and reported for work under the scheme. However, when the field assistant tried to record his attendance using the facial recognition app, the app failed to recognize him despite multiple attempts.

Realizing that the problem might be a lack of hair, a woman at the work site placed her braid on top of her head while being scanned. The app then successfully recorded his attendance and entertained those present.

The incident highlighted the limitations of facial recognition systems used to track attendance within outreach programs.
