FAIMA launches toll-free mental health helpline for doctors across India
In an important step to address the increasing mental health crisis among medical experts, the entire Indian Federation Federation (FAIMA) launched a free mental health correction line (MHRH) for doctors and medical students throughout the country. The help line aims to provide free and hidden mental health support to health professionals who struggle with stress, burnout and emotional difficulties.
The initiative comes in the midst of increasing suicide cases between doctors and medical students. In July, a young doctor from Mumbai’s JJ Hospital ended his life tragically and stressed an urgent need for accessible mental health services. Despite the 2017 Mental Health Law, which recognizes mental health as a fundamental right, awareness and support mechanisms for doctors are insufficient.
Dr. Nagpur. The aid line conceptualized by Sajal Bansal is the President of Faima and a senior Doctor at Nair Hospital of Mumbai. Under the leadership of Akshay Dongardive, Faima President Dr. It was launched under the leadership of Manish Jangra. More than 50 psychiatrists from all over India volunteered to provide daytime support to medical students, resident doctors and health workers.
Speaking about the initiative. Dongardive said, “Doctors are constantly under tremendous pressure due to increased patient loads, long working hours and academic difficulties. Unfortunately, the mental health of life saving is often neglected. This line of help is an attempt to prevent excessive steps such as providing timely psychological help and suicide.”
The help line will work seven days a week, 20 hours a day and offer consultations in many languages such as English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Urdu and Punjab. Every day, there will be a special psychiatrist team in shifts to ensure that medical experts from different regions and linguistic pasts can ask for help comfortably.
Faima also Jaideep Chaudhary (Jharkhand), Dr. Srinath (Andhra Pradesh) and Dr. Sagnik MukHET (Calcutta), including doctors, also made a hose. Bansal, doctors from Maharashtra actively contribute to this collective effort, he said.
With this initiative, Faima plans to expand its access to established doctors, MBBS students and health workers in government and private institutions.
Bansal believes that with the increasing depression, anxiety and burnout cases between Medicos, Faima believes that the line of aid can become a life line for thousands of brotherhood. This initiative emphasizes the urgent need to highlight the maintenance and support of the savior.
