Families urged to stop using clothes pegs this summer | UK | News

With scorching summer temperatures in full swing, there’s never been a better time to dry laundry outside. But clothing experts have warned that drying your laundry outside could damage them. While everyone usually rushes to dry their laundry outside instead of using hangers indoors, this is not good news.
Drying clothes outside may be faster and help your clothes smell fresher, but clothespins can also cause other problems. You’ll probably be leaving your laundry out all summer long, but clothing brand Superdry has a few tips worth considering.
Superdry says: “Be careful when using clothes pegs as they can leave unsightly and potentially permanent pressure marks on delicate fabrics.”
You should completely avoid using clothespins to protect delicate items and be careful not to leave items out in the wind, as they could blow away.
The high street brand says: “You can also boost the whitening effect further by lightly spritzing your clothes with white vinegar before hanging them outside, which will help the sun keep your whites looking fresh.
“However, some fabrics, especially those made from natural fibers such as cotton, will become stiff if dried this way.
“To avoid this, try drying it partially outside and finish it in the dryer for a few minutes.”
You can also gently shape clothes to remove wrinkles before hanging them or placing them on a drying rack, and you’ll reduce the amount of ironing required, which is always handy.
Our suggestion is to take your clothes dryer outside, it will have the same effect as drying your clothes on the line.
By taking this into consideration, you can ensure that your clothes are not damaged.
