Family escapes unhurt after car catches fire near Jolarpet

A family of five escaped unhurt when the car they were traveling in caught fire at Pachal village near Tirupattur’s Jolarpet town on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) on Saturday.
Police said that G. Motilal, a jewelery dealer in Tirupattur, and his family were returning by car from the Government Medical College Hospital in Krishnagiri when Motillal, who was driving the vehicle, noticed smoke coming from the hood.
As the fire grew, the family got out of the vehicle. Firefighters and police from Natrampalli reached the spot. However, the car was wrecked. The rescued persons were admitted to the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur.
The police removed the burning vehicle from the road.
