DA raise news: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a 3 percent increase lover’s allowance (DA) state government employees. It will be applied retroactively as of July 1, 2025. The announcement came just two days before Dhanteras (October 18). Diwali will be celebrated on October 20.

According to the official statement, the DA rate has now increased from 55 percent to 58 percent. Severance pay (DR) for retirees has also been increased by three percent. The decision will benefit around 8.5 lakh government employees and retirees in Odisha, the statement said.
Other states have announced that dearness allowance will be increased
Ahead of the festive season, several other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttarakhand, have also announced an increase in dearness allowance.

Earlier on October 1, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a 3 per cent increase in Valuable Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Valuable Allowance (DR) for pensioners with effect from July 1, 2025.
