Nabard Unveils Rs.5.11 Lakh Crore Credit Plan for AP

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced the Nabard State Focus Paper and credit plan for 2026-27, envisaging a massive credit outlay of Rs 5.11 lakh crore for priority sectors of Andhra Pradesh.

There is a strong focus on agriculture, horticulture and related activities.

As per Nabard estimates, the credit plan for the next financial year has been increased by 20% to Rs.5,11,491 crore from last year’s Rs.4.24 lakh crore. Of the total allocation, only agriculture received Rs.2.55 lakh crore.

The plan allocated 1.66 billion rupees for crop loans, 34.972 billion rupees for animal husbandry, 8.265 billion rupees for farm mechanization, 21.098 billion rupees for fisheries and 11.961 billion rupees for horticulture.

Nabard has specifically allocated Rs.5,313 crore for the development of horticulture in Rayalaseema and Prakasam regions.

Additionally, Rs.9,957 crore has been proposed for agricultural infrastructure and Rs.12,687 crore for allied agricultural activities. Rs.1.64 lakh crore has been allocated to the MSME sector under the loan scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister urged banks and Nabard officials to actively support the government’s move to expand horticulture. He said the state aims to achieve annual horticultural production of 450 lakh metric tonnes.

Naidu observed that agriculture, especially horticulture and aquaculture, plays a vital role in the economic growth of Andhra Pradesh and appealed to financial institutions to extend full cooperation with the sector.

Nabard CGM MR Gopal, GM KVS Prasad and representatives of Canara Bank, SBI, SLBC, APGB and APCOB attended the programme.
