Fascist Modi afraid of ‘cockroaches’: K. Prakash Babu

Communist Party of India (CPI) Central Secretariat member K. Prakash Babu on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of cowardice for blocking X account of digital satire collective called “Cockroach Janata Party”. The collective emerged online to protest statements comparing the country’s unemployed youth to “cockroaches”.
Mr. Prakash Babu said that by closing the account, Mr. Modi “proved that he is a coward.” He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 90th anniversary celebrations of the May 1 rally and the SA Distress Day celebrations ahead of the national general council meeting of the All India Trade Union Congress, scheduled to be held in Thrissur from June 1-3.
Prakash Babu claimed that Modi, busy serving “American imperialist interests”, has forgotten about millions of poor workers in India. He accused the Prime Minister of surrendering India’s sovereignty to the US and waiting for the approval of the American President even while formulating development policies for the country.
“India’s dignity is being mortgaged before the global community. The country is being pushed towards an unprecedented economic slowdown as fascist tools are being used to strengthen capitalism,” he said. He also claimed that the government was trying to weaken organized labor and union movements.
‘He insulted the public’
Referring to the incident involving a Norwegian journalist, Prakash Babu criticized Modi for leaving without answering the question about why journalists in India were not given the opportunity to ask questions. “By doing this, he insulted not only the journalist but also the people of India,” he said.
He also claimed that India has been turned into an “electoral autocracy” under Modi. Expressing concern over citizenship policies, Prakash Babu alleged that more Indians were being excluded through administrative processes rather than the Citizenship Amendment Act and warned that only a united public response could oppose such developments.
CPI Thrissur district secretary KG Sivanandan chaired the meeting. This event honored senior union leaders in the region affiliated with AITUC.
