Fauci diaries media coverage mirrors Biden acuity cover-up, Halperin says

Journalist Mark Halperin, the host of the “2Way” program, compared the coverage of Anthony Fauci’s diaries in the mainstream media to the press’s report on former President Joe Biden’s mental acuity on Wednesday and said that they were ready to create a cover-up.
“I could spend this whole hour talking to you about the media coverage of this thing.” Halperin said during a speech: With Larry O’Connor and Kevin Walling on the “Morning Meeting” podcast. If you read the stories in the so-called mainstream press about the Fauci Diaries, you will see a stark parallel to Biden’s sharpness. They were present during the creation of the cover-up. “They were there, engaged in non-stop bias, pro-Fauci, anti-Trump, and they were just perpetuating it.”
“There is no consciousness-raising,” he continued. “There doesn’t seem to be any awareness. And that covers a number of things. This goes into the question of whether Dr. Fauci is lying, whether Dr. Fauci is funding gain-of-function research, and it also goes to Dr. Fauci’s insane obsession with fame and celebrity. There’s no other way to describe it.”
On Wednesday, Fauci faced questions from Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Rand Paul about diary entries that Paul released earlier this week. Fauci has repeatedly refused to answer questions, invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

Halperin again drew attention to Fauci’s obsession with celebrities, saying, “There are so many rich things here and Fauci’s obsession with celebrities.” “He’s obsessed. He talks about Julia Roberts. He talks about Cher. He talks about covers. He talks openly in his diaries about how people have blocked him from TV. And he acts like he’s been blocked from being on TV, like someone’s trying to drown him underwater. OK, this guy’s got a problem. Which, by the way, is no surprise if you’ve covered him for the last 50 years he’s been in Washington.”
Halperin specifically called out CNN’s Brian Stelter and his note on the story. “Trusted Sources” newsletter.
“While the MAGA media has mocked Fauci’s ‘obsession’ with fame, his diary entries read more like one documenting the objectively insane speed at which a government immunologist became internationally famous,” Stelter wrote.
“Brian Stelter, this should be Christmas for him,” Halperin continued. “This must be the best day of his life to write about all the connections between Fauci and the media here and the ethics of people secretly befriending him, helping him, and then praising him on TV. Brian Stelter has written many corrupt sentences throughout his career to protect the liberal side of society.”
When reached for comment, CNN referred Fox News Digital to what Stelter wrote in its newsletter Monday.

Halperin asked co-host Larry O’Conner: “Can you think of a more extreme example than the characterization of these logs?”
O’Connor agreed, adding: “The narcissism he displays by constantly focusing on which celebrity or which media outlet is saying great things about him is only truly valuable when taken together with his admissions that he is hiding from the American people what is really going on in this pandemic.”
In a series of journal entries, Fauci described his relationships with various media personalities, including CNN’s Jake Tapper, who was mentioned 41 times.
According to the log, Tapper texted Fauci to mock rival cable news hosts and other doctors. Tapper once called to check in on Fauci after his appearance on his show upset Trump supporters.
“Jake wanted to make sure the interview would not cause me any trouble,” Fauci wrote on April 13, 2020.
In July 2020, Fauci said he had formed a friendship with Tapper.
“Had dinner at Jake Tapper and Jen Tapper’s house in DC. Great couple. Building friendship,” Fauci wrote, according to the diary.
Later that month, Fauci wrote to pediatrician Brett Giroir that he “gave Jake some questions to ask” during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.” But Tapper later woke Fauci up by voicing his disappointment.
“Tapper woke me up at 11:23 in the morning (I went to bed early) furius [sic] On POTUS for tweeting the fact that Jake was seriously ill [sic] Today SOTU questioned Brett Giroir on his CNN show. Jake was really angry at the insanity of it all,” Fauci wrote.
