Captain Donald Cragen death revealed in Law & Order SVU Season 27 premiere episode
He served as a commander for more than one season for detectives such as Captain Cragen, Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler. The character initially took part in the flagship Law & Order series before moving to SVU, where it became a central figure on the procedure drama.
Law & Order Svu Season 27 premiere did not specify the cause of the captain Cragen’s death. The department said that Cragen did not contact his former SVU colleagues during retirement.

After the video, Benson addressed his team about his former captains. “He’s the best boss I’ve ever had,” Benson said to his team. “I learned from him everything I know to be a captain.”
Captain Cragen’s retirement from Law and Order SVU
Captain Cragen, 15th season, retired from SVU at Chapter 11 (“Amaro’s One-One-One-One-One”). The Pension Department showed Detective Benson, who succeeded him as a commander, had passed Cragen’s command responsibilities.
During the retirement announcement, Cragen announced his decision to leave the department. “Eileen has two tickets for a six -month journey and I have accrued enough to take me throughout my compulsory retirement date.” He said. “If I stay, I can do less than I leave.”
Cragen gave advice to his successor before leaving. “The promise of advice? I gave my whole life to NYPD and I forgot to live myself … But people always told me that, and I never understand what they mean. But take good care of yourself. You deserve it.”

After retiring as a commander, several guests participated in Captain Cragen, Law & Order Svu. The character returned to the “perverted justice” of the season 16 and appeared in the “Five Hundreds of Hundreds” on the kilometer of the season 23.
