FBI hunts for 2 ‘dangerous’ inmates who escaped NC jail

A manhunt was underway on Thursday, June 4, with a $40,000 reward being offered for information leading to the capture of two “armed and dangerous” inmates who escaped from a North Carolina prison.

FBI said Michael Lewis Miles Jr. and Lishawn KnottThe 14-year-old, who was being held in multiple states on drug trafficking and weapons-related charges, disappeared at 2 p.m. June 3 from the Vance County Detention Center in Henderson, about 45 miles north of Raleigh, near the North Carolina-Virginia state line.

The FBI said both men knew each other before their arrests and may have been traveling together or separately.

Both are considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

“We are asking the public to check home surveillance video or trail/hunting camera footage to assist in real-time tracking of escapees,” the FBI Charlotte Field Office said in X. “We are also asking everyone to lock your vehicles, close your garage doors and lock your sheds.”

Rewards offered for capture of escaped prisoners in North Carolina

The FBI and Vance County Crime Stoppers are offering rewards of up to $40,000 to locate and capture escaped inmates, with up to $20,000 for each inmate.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the escaped inmates is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925.
