NBC’s Today program stated that the FBI was ‘aware’ of the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother after homicide detectives were called.

The morning show featuring Guthrie stars made the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie from her home in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday night the top story of Monday morning.

NBC’s chief crime expert Tom Winter said: ‘Given the nature of those present at the scene, the FBI is also aware of this case.

‘That’s what has them so worried.’

Winter added: ‘As we do with every investigation, we are withholding some details to ensure the investigation can progress without us interfering.’

No further details were shared regarding the ‘relevant evidence’ found at Nancy’s home. Today, it was revealed that Customs and Border Patrol joined sheriff’s deputies in finding Nancy, whose home is near the Mexican border.

Drones and a sheriff’s plane were deployed to track him down.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the search for Nancy is still considered a search and rescue operation, but foul play cannot be ruled out.
