Female referee left concussed after being knocked over by brawling men’s players during melee in match in France

It was reported that a female referee suffered a concussion after falling to the ground during a brawl in a men’s friendly match in France.

Referee Mathilde Demoncay officiated the friendly match played on Sunday between the Ligue 2 French team Metz and their Dutch rivals Fortuna Sittard.

Demoncay awarded a free kick to Fortuna Sittard in the 39th minute after a Metz player pulled on the attacker’s jersey.

The Fortuna Sittard player, who was fouled, was seen struggling with two Metz players after the incident.

This led to Demoncay racing to end the incident, with players from both teams rushing into the incident as the brawl grew.

In the footage, 26-year-old Demoncay can be seen falling backwards as more players entered the fray.

Demoncay tried to intervene in the fight but was knocked down as more players got involved.

A player was seen signaling for medical attention and Demoncay appeared to hit his head on the ground after falling.

Although the images were not clear, Demoncay was seen hitting his head on the ground after falling.

A Fortuna player immediately spotted the referee in pain as he stood next to the referee and motioned for the medical staff to come to his aid.

Demoncay also received assistance as medical staff, assistant referees and security arrived on the field.

In the footage, Demoncay was seen sitting down while medical staff began to evaluate him, while the players appeared to be concerned about the incident.

Demoncay was unable to continue the match because one of his assistants had to step in.

The incident, which was played with a banner saying ‘Respect the referee’ in the background, resulted in two players receiving yellow cards.
