Ferran Torres wears ‘Make Spain Great Again’ hat at World Cup parade

Spain’s World Cup Final hero Ferran Torres decided to celebrate the country’s victory on Monday by saluting President Donald Trump.

As tens of thousands of Spaniards welcomed home their World Cup-winning team in a victory parade, Torres, who beat Argentina in the 106th minute at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, was seen wearing a “Make Spain Great Again” hat, an adaptation of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Torres posted a photo of the Spanish mobster in a vehicle, wearing his hat and shirtless.

Although it was a coincidence that Torres decided to choose this hat for the celebration, Trump presented the World Cup trophy to Spain captain Rodrí and the rest of the team on the field after the victory.

Trump was in attendance alongside First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino in the thrilling final, which was dominated by Spain.

The match was heading towards a penalty shoot-out, had it not been for Torres’ efforts to eventually get the ball past Argentina’s star goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who had to make miraculous saves to keep the scoreboard locked at zero.

But when his header was deflected back into the penalty area following Nico Williams Jr.’s cross, Torres had a grade-A chance to put the ball into the net as it fell to his left foot. It did not disappoint.

“In the end I think the goal came from 47 million people [the estimated Spain population]Torres told FIFA’s home broadcasters after the match: via ESPN. “Today, destiny was written, it was made for us to win. Today we are far from our people, but we tried to be as close to them as possible.”

This was Spain’s second appearance in the World Cup Final, but just like in 2010, they walked away with the trophy in hand and prepared to celebrate with the masses at home.

When the final whistle blew on Sunday, there was some controversy over a brawl on the pitch between Argentina and Spain players, which FIFA will investigate.

But in our hometown, specifically in Madrid, the capital of Spain, there was a party that started late at night and hasn’t stopped since.

Torres and his other teammates will surely experience this great moment before returning to their respective clubs to start their season in the coming months.
