Fetterman called a ‘traitor to those who worked tirelessly to elect him’ by swing county Democratic Party

The Democratic Party of Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday called Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) a “traitor” to Democrats and those who supported his campaign after his repeated support for some Trump administration policies and Cabinet officials.

Democratic Party district organization “TRAITOR to the Democrats. TRAITOR to Pennsylvanians. TRAITOR to those who worked tirelessly to elect him and stood by him.” He wrote in an article on Sunday on social platform X.

“‘The 51st vote is a‑‑. This FOX expert is MAGA. Make him a priority and vote for him in 2028,” he added.

The statement comes with a clip of Fetterman, reaired on Fox News, discussing whether he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for a cabinet post.

“I’m not sure what he wants for the job, but I voted for some of the members of the Cabinet because, you know, like Marco Rubio, I think he’s done a great job overall. It wasn’t too controversial to vote for those types of people just because they were on the opposing side,” the Pennsylvania senator said in an interview on Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing.”

“Our entire party right now is defined by TDS,” he added, referring to “Trump Disequilibrium Syndrome,” a derogatory term President Trump uses to describe people who disagree with him or critically discuss his policies.

Fetterman has become an outlier in the party, opposing the party to support the nomination of former Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) for Homeland Security secretary, after previously joining seven Democratic senators to support the nomination of former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

He later called for Noem to be fired following criticism of her leadership.

Fetterman, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and specifically opposed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s Cabinet nomination.

In an interview Sunday, Fetterman said he aims to work across party lines.

“We have to find a way to work together, and we can agree on some issues, but we’re not going to agree on other issues,” Fetterman said of the Democratic Party.

But Republican leaders, including the president, recognized Fetterman’s willingness to support the GOP’s legislative agenda and urged him to change his party affiliation.

According to incoming reports New RepublicThe Pennsylvania Democrat was promised a “financial windfall” for Trump’s endorsement and switching parties.

During an interview, Fox News host Sean Hannity told Fetterman that Trump had been nudging him to publicly lobby for the senatorial switch.

“Your job is to tell him: He’s going to run as a Republican, he’s going to have our full support, he’s going to make more money than he ever imagined, and he’s going to make a big profit,” Hannity said. recalled on air.

Despite the disagreements, Fetterman said last September that he would not switch parties while in office.
