Fever head coach lectures America on racism and homophobia as Caitlin Clark narrative starts to shift

The narrative has been officially changed. Well done, WNBA. Well done, Alyssa Thomas.

Well done, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White.

A day after Alyssa Thomas played the predictable victim card by saying she had received death threats over the incident with Clark, White further fueled that narrative in his opening statement to the media on Wednesday.

PUNISHED ALYSSA THOMAS RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM TEAMMATE AND COACH AFTER CHEAP SHOT ON CAITLIN CLARK

And by “explanation,” I mean a three-minute lecture about how racist and homophobic people have been toward Thomas and the WNBA.

This is true. Nothing about Clark. When there is no search, there is nothing. There’s nothing wrong with the league refusing to do anything about these events.

Opposing team’s coach’s statement regarding inclusivity.

Unbelievable.

WNBA continues to screw up Caitlin Clark’s situation

“Before we start with the questions, I want to touch on what’s going on in the EC,” he said, referring to Thomas. “This is absolutely unacceptable. There’s been so much more toxicity, racism and homophobia as a league and as a whole. It’s plain nonsense. It’s hate-bullshit. It’s totally unacceptable. A lot of it is coming from the online community.”

MERCURY COACH CLAIMS ALYSSA THOMAS’ SUSPENSION WAS BASED ON ‘SOCIAL MEDIA SCREENSHOTS’ AFTER CAITLIN CLARK FOUL

“I believe a lot of this is coming not from WNBA fans, not from Indiana Fever fans, but from people using our league, using our players for more divisive agendas. This is unacceptable.”

Kindness, gracious. As I said, the story has completely changed. And it’s very predictable.

This was always the way forward, wasn’t it? God knows the WNBA couldn’t let Caitlin Clark’s empathy linger much longer. No. If there’s anything the last few days have taught us, it’s this We These are the problems. Fans. Media. Not Alyssa Thomas. Not the referees. It’s not that the WNBA is ignoring it.

We.

Or, as White puts it, “the online community.”

So trolls. Internet trolls. That’s what Alyssa Thomas and Stephanie White focus on. I mean keyboard warriors Nothing, and they’ve been around since the dawn of social media, now they’re in focus.

“You know, it’s crazy to be played, to be suspended, to have the whole story portrayed there,” Thomas said earlier this week. “It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this because of basketball. Many of us, myself included, didn’t even know the game was being played until after it was over, and now we’re being painted as thugs.”

“And we’ve been getting death threats coming at us, so it’s really unacceptable. This is something that needs to change in the league and I’m really sick and tired of it.”

Give me some time. Internet trolls are a dime a dozen. Social media is a toxic place. I understand I hate it. But playing the victim card and acting like the WNBA is the only place that deals with this behavior is ridiculous.

It’s also, unfortunately, so predictable.

this was that Always where is this the story would go. Alyssa Thomas reveals this first. Then, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert dusts off the standard statement each league has recorded on its computers:

“The WNBA strongly condemns all forms of hate.”

He revealed exactly this last night. And today, Indiana head coach Stephanie White kicks off her press conference with a lecture about how racist and homophobic America is.

Perfect. Just in time.
