Filmmaker predicts World Cup could mark first contact between aliens and humans

A documentary filmmaker has predicted that aliens will appear during the 2026 World Cup.
The global sporting event kicks off on Thursday (11.06.26) at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico, and Mark Christopher Lee thinks it could be the perfect opportunity for extraterrestrials to make their first official contact with humanity.
Lee, a well-known UFO researcher and writer and director of documentaries such as UFO Encounters of the 5th Kind and God vs. Aliens, made his claims amid an “undeniable” pattern of UFO activity linked to football stadiums and major tournaments.
He explained: “This pattern is undeniable. From Florence in 1954, where a packed stadium became a UFO viewing platform, to the venues of the modern World Cup, football has been repeatedly disrupted or overshadowed by the unexplained.
“With the 2026 tournament about to kick off with unprecedented UAP transparency from the U.S. government, we may be days or weeks away from the moment the world has been waiting for: live unveiling in front of the largest global audience in human history.”
The incident Lee mentioned in Florence occurred during a friendly match between Fiorentina and their local rivals at Italy’s Artemio Franchi Stadium on October 27, 1954.
The game was stopped when cigar-shaped, egg-like silvery objects took to the sky and performed acrobatic manoeuvres.
When the referee stopped play, the players and 10,000 fans, including Italian sports legend Ardico Magnini, looked up at the sky, stunned by what they saw.
As the mysterious objects departed, they left behind “angel hairs” – silvery thread-like threads that disintegrate quickly when touched, and have been determined by scientists at the University of Florence to contain boron, silicon, magnesium and calcium.
The incident in 1954 led to a series of UFO sightings in Tuscany and Europe later that year.
Meanwhile, during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, a “stingray-shaped” UFO was spotted in the sky above the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, and the video of this strange incident quickly went viral.
A sighting was also reported in 2023 over Mexico’s FC Juárez Bravos stadium and near major stadiums around the world.
Lee continued to urge football fans to pay attention to the sky as well as the pitch.
He concluded: “If my prediction turns out to be correct, the final whistle of the 2026 World Cup could also be the beginning of a new era for humanity.”
