Final delivery dates for top UK retailers for last-minute Christmas gifts
It’s officially Christmas week; It’s a time when the “out of office” season has begun, holiday jumpers are encouraged and shopping malls are full of panicked last-minute buyers.
Years ago, if you had left your gifts until the eleventh hour, you would have had no choice but to brave a turbulent high street.
But today you can browse hundreds of stores and do all your Christmas shopping from the comfort of your couch.
Retailers are allowing customers to order just days before the big day, and some click-and-collect options are open until Christmas Eve.
But they’re not as magical as Santa Claus, so if you’re looking to do some last-minute shopping, here are the dates you need to know.
Monday, December 22nd is the deadline when Amazon offers to place orders with next-day delivery for guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve. Since deliveries are scheduled for the 24th, you can try ordering on the 23rd, but the sooner the better if you want your gift to arrive safely.
By 2pm on Monday 22 December is the last order for John Lewis and Waitrose deliveries to arrive safely before Christmas. You can, however, order click-and-collect delivery until December 23 and collect them before stores close on Christmas Eve.
Depending on the department you order from, M&S has a few different dates you’ll need to know. You have until December 23 for both next day delivery and click and collect on your fashion, home (except furniture), beauty and flower orders. If you want a basket, you must order by December 22nd.
Next day delivery is open until 23 December for items to arrive before Christmas, and until 22 December for click and collect.
