First tranche of Aussie M1A1 Abrams tanks delivered to Ukraine to bolster fight against Russia

Australia provides Ukraine a 49 M1a1 Abrams tank worth $ 245 million to support the war against Russia’s illegal invasion.

The first slice of retired tanks has the Ukrainian Armed Forces after being sent from Geelong Port.

Australia first bought the fleet of 59 Abrams tanks, which were never deployed in a war zone in 2007.

Since then, the Australian army has changed the fleet with new M1A2 tanks.

Last year, Ukraine, Australia’s retired Taipan helicopter fleet – has been dismantled and buried since then – will be continued and will be very complex to be operated because of concerns.

The current $ 245 million support package, which includes the M1A1 Abrams fleet, is part of Australia’s $ 1.5 billion aid to the nation where the war has been disintegrated since the beginning of Russia’s conflict in 2022.

“M1A1 Abrams tanks will make an important contribution to Ukraine’s ongoing struggle against the illegal and immoral invasion of Russia,” Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles said. He said.

“Australia remains determined in our support to Ukraine and to see a fair and lasting peace.”

“Australia stands to shoulder with Australia Ukraine,” said the Defense Industry Minister Pat Conroy.

“These modified M1A1 Abrams tanks will provide more firepower and more mobility to Ukraine armed forces.

“They directly meet a demand from the Ukrainian government and are part of the unchanging commitment of Australia’s commitment to protecting the order based on global rules.”

The great update follows Russia’s delivery of 1000 massacred soldiers to Ukraine, because more peace talks between the two countries have broken.

Ukraine also agreed to return the bodies of 19 soldiers to Russia as part of the agreement.

At the beginning of the week, a “very unhappy yapan US President Donald Trump set a 50 -day deadline for Russia to reach Russia’s cease -fire agreement with Ukraine or risk tariffs that could disable Eastern superpower.

Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the cease -fire calls so far.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at the beginning of the week, “The statements of the US president are very serious. Some were personally handled to President Putin.”
