In a club statement, Carlton said Docharty’s “personalizing flexibility”.
In 2016, Docherty, a John Nicholls medal, followed his honor of All-Australia in 2017 and took over the captain in 2018. After playing every game for Blues in 2016 and 2017, Docherty was stopped for the next two seasons after ACL reconstruction.
In 2020, he returned to play football, but then he was diagnosed with two testicular cancer seizures with multiple surgery and chemotherapy treatment.
“Perspective is a very valuable thing and I’m the most grateful in my career,” Docharty said.
Im When my career started, I thought that a footballer should define themselves with praise they have accomplished;
“Not only in my football career, but my experiences in life have moved the castle poles for me – although there was no difficulty in difficulty, I was allowed to meet many amazing people because of what I have experienced, and I had the opportunity to have a much greater effect than a football kick or handball.”
