Food Safety Officials Book Shubham Restaurant In Visakha For Using Stale Food, Poor Maintenance Of Cleanliness

Vijayawada: Food safety officials inspected Shubham Café, a multi-cuisine restaurant on Visakhapatnam Beach Road, on Monday, collected food samples and registered a case against it for using stale food and not enough attention to cleanliness.
According to Chakravarthy, deputy food safety controller of Visakhapantam, food safety officials inspected the restaurant for the second time on Monday and noticed that food such as fried rice, noodles and pasta prepared the day before were kept in the freezer to be served again to customers. Officials also noticed poor sanitation and found cockroaches everywhere.
The authorities registered a case against the restaurant under relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and issued a show cause notice.
Meanwhile, food safety officials have sent food samples collected from the restaurant to the state food laboratory in Hyderabad for analysis. Reports may take up to 15 days to arrive.
