“For acts against India, response is assured,” says Indian Army on Pahalgam attack anniversary; recalls Op Sindoor
On April 22, 2025, the country was shocked when terrorists struck the tourist town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir and entered a village, killing 26 civilians. Pahalgam, known as a touristic region with its natural beauties, was left covered in blood after Pakistan-backed terrorists killed many innocent people.

On the first anniversary of the heinous attack, the Indian Army commemorated ‘Operation Sindoor’ and warned terrorists not to cross borders.
In a post on X to commemorate the anniversary, the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) wrote, “Response to actions against India is assured. Justice will be served. Always,” and had a graphic of Sindoor reading “Operation Sindoor continues…”
In the cross-border mass attack in Pahalgam, the attackers reportedly interrogated the victims about their religion before killing them, and families are still grappling with the loss a year later.
While India mourned the loss, this was followed by decisive action by the Indian armed forces in the form of Operation Sindoor. Indian armed forces struck terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Following the attack, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, 2025, targeting Pakistan and the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). According to official details, Indian armed forces destroyed nine major terror launch pads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen and eliminated more than 100 terrorists during the operation.
This was followed by Pakistani drone strikes and shelling, leading to a four-day conflict between the two neighboring countries. India put up a formidable defense and launched retaliatory attacks, destroying Radar facilities in Lahore and Radar facilities near Gurjanwala.

Heavily damaged, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO and a ceasefire agreement was reached on 10 May.
Moreover, Operation Mahadev was another major joint achievement of the Army and security forces last year in which they tracked down and eliminated three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack.
Among non-military actions, India abrogated the Indus Waters Treaty and all bilateral trade with Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and reiterated India’s resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.

“On this day last year, I remember the innocent lives lost in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families who are struggling with this loss. As a nation, we stand together with pain and determination. India will never succumb to terrorism of any kind. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed,” the Prime Minister said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made it clear that “if there is a terrorist attack on India, there will be an appropriate response” and that India “will not distinguish between the government sponsoring terrorism and the planners of terrorism”. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that “Operation Sindoor is still ongoing”.
Chief of Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi lauded Operation Sindoor as the best example of “tri-service synergy under clear political directives”. “Operation Sindoor was a prime example of tri-service synergy under clear political direction and full freedom to act or react,” he said at a press conference.
The Indian Air Force also played a decisive role in the operation and on the eve of the 93rd Air Force Day, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said that Operation Sindoor was a decisive moment that demonstrated the precision, strength and unity of purpose of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in responding to Pakistan’s “Napak” (cowardly) action.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi emphasized that the deployment of an aircraft carrier battle group in the North Arabian Sea affects Pakistan’s naval movements, keeping them close to their ports.
In his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day 2025, Prime Minister Modi also announced the Sudarshan Chakra Mission, which aims to neutralize enemy defense infiltrations and enhance India’s offensive capabilities. (MOMENT)
