Forrestfield Police operation: Antisocial motorists, criminals targeted after Perth Hills community worries

A police raid in the Perth Hills has put hoon drivers on notice.

Forrestfield Police targeted antisocial driver behavior and criminal activity in a two-day operation amid community fears about rising crime.

This involved overt and covert strategies, including late-night saturation patrols with marked and unmarked police vehicles at key locations, traffic stops, and speed and hoon detection.

As part of the operation, which was carried out overnight from September 18 to September 19, dozens of vehicles were stopped and 62 random breath tests were performed.

Two driving license offenses were detected, four fault notices were made, one vehicle was seized, eight people were searched and 21 drugs were seized.

A 35-year-old Heathridge man was also charged with possession with intent to sell or supply after police found more than 7 grams of methylamphetamine during a search of his vehicle.

The operation, which included a regional operations group and K9 unit, was launched following concerns about ongoing anti-social behavior around Gooseberry Hill, High Wycombe, Kalamunda, Lesmurdie, Walliston, Wattle Grove and Maida Vale.

Forrestfield Police Station Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Brad Robinson said the operation was a multi-faceted approach from local police to address community concerns.

“This operation demonstrates effective teamwork between multiple police units that contribute directly to public safety in the Forrestfield sub-area, and that is what we are all about – making and protecting our communities safer,” Snr Sergeant Robinson said.

“We have a large number of people facing driving and drugs charges as a result of this operation, so we have achieved strong results through proactive policing and effective resource deployment.

“Driving recklessly, burnout, careless driving, other unsafe driving and antisocial behavior are types of offenses that put offenders themselves, as well as other road users and residents, at risk of serious injury or death.

“This has no place in our community and through operations like this, we will focus on apprehending repeat high-risk offenders and taking legal action, including vehicle seizure, to hold them accountable for their actions.”

Senior Sergeant Robinson praised the community for their continued support in stopping criminal activity.

“Forrestfield Police will continue to target these offenders, working closely with the community, local businesses and our partner organisations,” he said.

“Partnerships are vital and the input we receive from the community is critical.

“Stopping antisocial and hoon behavior is one of our priorities, so if you or anyone you know has information about these activities, or any illegal or suspicious activity, you need to report this to the police because we will not tolerate it on or around our streets.”

Anyone with information regarding these matters or criminal activity in the Forrestfield area should call Crime Stoppers on 1300 888 000 or Create a report online here. Reports can be made anonymously.
