Fort Worth principal candidate faces investigation over Sharia law posts

A newly appointed Texas high school principal faces response and district investigation After past social media posts purporting to defend sharia law and support progressive causes resurfaced online.

Shayma Alzubi, who is currently described as assistant principal for ninth grade at Southwest High School in Fort Worth, has been selected by Fort Worth ISD as the next principal of Western Hills High School, announcing the news in a Facebook post that appears to have been recently deleted.

Alzubi’s appointment came under criticism online following screenshots from his past social media posts came to the surface.

Upon review, it was determined that the posts may not be in accordance with the district’s social media policy and staffing expectations. Therefore, the candidate will be reappointed based on the outcome of the investigation. Therefore, the district will not comment further on an open investigation.”
