Four Chhattisgarh Police personnel detained in Guwahati following bribery allegations

A senior police official said that a case has been registered against the Raipur Police team at Dispur Police Station in Guwahati.
A complaint has been made that police personnel in Chhattisgarh demanded and accepted bribes from accused persons arrested during a cybercrime investigation, the official said.
The official said that a team from the Raipur team had arrived in Guwahati in connection with a cybercrime case in Chhattisgarh. The teams arrested one suspect and later detained 3 more people. They are all from Bihar.
“While Raipur police released two accused allegedly after accepting bribes, they kept the third in custody awaiting payment of the remaining amount. We received a complaint and the team acted accordingly and brought him to Dispur police station,” the official said.
Police said an FIR was registered under bailable sections following which the staff was allowed to leave on notice after preliminary interrogation.
