Four Of Family Run Over While Crossing Rail Tracks

Four members of a family – Shaik Chand Basha (50), his wife Sheikh Hasina (45) and their MBA student daughters Shaik Sharmila (23) and Shaik Sameera (20) were killed when the Charlapalli-Shalimar train ran over them while they were trying to cross the railway track at Chebrolu Railway Station in Unguturu mandal of Tadepalligudem Railway Circle on Saturday night.
According to the Railway Police, Shaik Chand Basha and Sheikh Hasina of Gudivada had migrated to Tadepalligudem 25 years ago and ran an optical shop. They had been living in a rented house in Tadepalligudem with their two daughters for the last three years. They had been having financial difficulties for a while.
They left home on Saturday evening with two bicycles.
Tadepalligudem Railway police are investigating whether the family committed suicide or died accidentally.
Woman and her assistants arrested for her husband’s murder
Devarapalli police in Anakapalle district arrested a woman and three of her alleged accomplices in connection with the murder of her husband.
The accused were identified as D. Hyma, B. Gangadhar and V. Nagacharan. Police said Hyma’s husband, D. Appala Naidu, was strangled to death at his Devarapalli Mandal-run home in Srirampuram on July 1.
Investigation revealed that Hyma had developed an illicit affair with Gangadhar and claimed that she had conspired to eliminate her husband. Police said Gangadhar and his nephew Nagacharan hired hitmen, while Hyma paid ₹ 1 lakh for the murder. Hired attackers identified as Prakash and Shafeer allegedly carried out the crime. Police said efforts are continuing to capture the remaining two suspects.
Car thief caught, valuables seized
Prime Palem police in Visakhapatnam arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly committing a series of property offences.
The accused, L. Padmanabham, a native of Vizianagaram district, allegedly targeted parked cars, broke their windows and stole valuables inside the vehicles.
Police seized a laptop, gold jewelery and cash from the person’s possession. Further investigation is ongoing.
ASI died in a road accident near Panyam
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed and four others suffered serious injuries in a road accident on Nandyal-Kurnool National Highway near Thammarajupalle village in Panyam mandal on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Reddy, who was serving as ASI at Allagadda Rural Police Station. According to police, Suresh Reddy had driven to Anantapur along with a few people to attend a wedding.
While returning, the car’s tire burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car rolled over, causing a major accident. Suresh Reddy died on the spot. Special Branch officer Nagendra Prasad Reddy and three others were seriously injured in the accident. They were transferred to nearby Shantiram Hospital for treatment.
Panyam police have registered a case and are investigating. Authorities said a tire burst was suspected to be the main cause of the accident.
