Four alleged shooters were killed and one injured in a shootout with police after opening fire at the residence of a prominent businessman in Gurugram’s posh Sushant Lok Phase-2 late on Thursday evening (July 9, 2026).
According to the police, the Crime Branch received information from the control room in the evening that armed men were driving around in a black Sports Utility Vehicle. The police, who searched the Sushant Lok Phase-2 area, found that the businessman was constantly receiving threats and extortion calls from a gangster who was abroad.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sadar Dharambir Singh told reporters at the scene: “When the police reached the spot, they started firing with sophisticated weapons at the house of the accused businessman.” “When they were challenged, they also shot at the police. The police retaliated in self-defense.”
As a result of the fire, all five attackers were shot. Four of the injured who were taken to the hospital were declared dead. One of them is undergoing treatment.
Three police officers were injured in the conflict and were treated.
Police said the businessman’s house was targeted with a gun. Details regarding the identity of the dead attackers and the amount of extortion have not yet been confirmed. The role of a particular gang is also being investigated.
Yellow crime scene tape was placed where the senior police officer was briefing the media late at night.
