Boy, 2, dies after car hits pedestrians

Police said that a two -year -old child died and that a man was seriously injured after an accident in a parking lot in the city.

Officers, a car and multiple pedestrians after an accident on Saturday at 20:24 on the Whitstable Harbor Street and Cromwell Road were called to the intersection, he said.

Police said the child had died at the scene and that a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The next relative of the child was informed.

Police said he was arrested at the scene on suspicion that a man in his 20s caused death with dangerous driving.

Police remained in custody while the investigations continued.

Flower tributes and soft toys remained at the scene.

Canterbury City Council Spokesperson: “Our thoughts are with everyone who was affected by the incident last night.

“Today we have officers to provide help and support on the site.”

The city police objected to witnesses or to contact them with CCTV or Dashcam images.

Whitstable, a coastal facility that is popular among tourists, is busy especially in summer.
