‘Freak tornado’ sends jumping castle flying through the air as four children are rushed to hospital

Five children were injured when a goal was blown off the ground and over a fence by a ‘freak tornado’.

Emergency services rushed to a home on Kelvin Park Dr in Bradfield, south-west Sydney, at about 9.35am on Saturday.

Three children aged nine, a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old were assessed before the four children were taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.

SafeWork NSW inspectors were at the scene and investigating following the incident.

A spokesman for the jumping castle company said the owners had informed it that there was a ‘high wind’ caused by a ‘freak hurricane’.

“I’m glad the kids are okay, that’s a positive thing,” he said Daily Telegraph.

It was reported that the generator belonging to the property owners was ‘dismantled’ due to strong winds.

It comes after families in Tasmania were shocked when a ‘dust devil’ levitated a jumping castle, killing six primary school children.

In June, a judge dismissed workplace safety charges against the jumping castle operator, and a distraught mother reacted in court.

Georgie Burt, the distraught mother of 12-year-old Zane Mellor, began shouting from the public gallery after the verdict was read.

‘I hope what you did stays with you forever. “My child, they will follow you until you die,” he shouted.

‘Son Zane Mellor, I hope this bothers you, I hope you see them every time they miss Christmas, every time they miss your birthday, it’s because of you.’
