French Open 2026 results: Matteo Arnaldi withdraws before semi-final against Flavio Cobolli with virus

Flavio Cobolli advanced to the French Open final after fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi withdrew due to virus just minutes before the semi-finals.
The good friends needed to meet in the last four on Friday at 18:00 BST to qualify for their first Grand Slam final.
However, Arnaldi’s withdrawal was announced to the players just 20 minutes before Philippe Chatrier took the field.
This takes world number 14 Cobolli straight into Sunday’s Roland Garros showpiece, where he will face second seed and title favorite Alexander Zverev.
Arnaldi had spent 19 hours and 42 minutes on the pitch en route to the semi-finals in Paris; this was the longest period played en route to the last four of a major since 1991.
