“Activists entered St Mary’s School in Panigaon and vandalized the preparations for the Christmas Day program. They burned banners and posters of the celebration,” he added.

Vishva Hindu Parishad Bajrang Dal (VHPBD) activists chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogans and warned the school authorities not to organize Christmas in the school premises on Thursday, December 25, 2025, the official said.

“They then went to various shops selling Christmas items in Nalbari town and set fire to some items in front of the shops near Jain Mandir in the town,” the officer said.

They also entered many shopping malls and workplaces selling Christmas products and burned the products.

VHPBD Nalbari District Secretary Bhaskar Deka told reporters, “We do not want Christian festivals here. Do business in any product of Indian origin related to the festival. But we do not accept to do business with a festival of non-Indian origin.”

The police official said that no FIR has been registered as no one has filed a complaint so far.
