Fallers at the final hurdle! Royal Ascot racegoers enjoy the sunshine and refreshments – but it gets a little too much for some after a day out

Racing’s grandest event has been in full swing all week as racing fans bask in the sunshine and treats of Royal Ascot – but it looks like a day at the races might be a little too much for some revelers.
Nearly 290,000 people are flocking to Berkshire racecourse this week for the five-day event, which runs from Tuesday to Sunday with the Queen Anne Stakes, and many visitors are already putting their best fashion forward for the event.
But this year’s festivities – coinciding with the UK’s impending heatwave – saw attendees exhausted after fun-filled sunny days.
Royals and celebrities were picture-perfect at the famous racetrack, where Catherine, Princess of Wales took to the stage with her husband Prince William for the first time in two years on Tuesday.
King Charles and Queen Camilla also made royal appearances in the parade for Women’s Day, the race’s most popular event, on Friday, where they were joined by Princess Anne, Zara Tindall and Hollywood actor Stanley Tucci.
Known as the jewel in the crown of the UK racing calendar, enjoying Royal Ascot’s drinks offering doesn’t come cheap, unsurprisingly.
The cheapest bottle of Champagne available will set visitors back £210, while the most expensive option, Cuvee Dom Perignon Blanc, will cost £560.
Perhaps it’s the higher prices coupled with rising temperatures that are why some Royal Ascot visitors are pictured looking exhausted at the end of a day’s racing.
A man and a lady are pictured relaxing on the grass after the day’s action; The gentleman appeared to have fallen into a deep sleep.
One race participant swapped heels for flip-flops, a more comfortable option
Another lady was seen leaning against a wall on the floor among her friends, with the strap of her dress unfortunately falling off.
Another woman was lying haphazardly on the ground next to the group, another woman was sitting next to her
This woman needed to be led away from the crowded event by a gentleman in a more casual shoe style.
A man was photographed next to a police officer in a rather unkempt state, with his tie loose and his shirt unbuttoned.
Two more ladies – one of whom was vaping – looked fed up as they perched on the pavement
The heat took a toll on most people; This racing fan chose to start his journey home topless
