Further charges after wild inner-Sydney shopping centre brawl

More people have been charged following a wild brawl in which chairs were allegedly thrown in the food court of an inner Sydney shopping centre.
There were wild scenes on the second floor of Broadway shopping center in Glebe last Wednesday after a group of teenagers allegedly started throwing metal chairs at another child in the food court.
Some of the young people were allegedly armed with bicycles.
Detective Chief Inspector Grant Watson told reporters earlier that rising tensions between the two groups from Glebe and Waterloo “which had been going on for a number of months” were likely behind the fight.
But he refused to describe the incident as a “gang-on-gang type incident.”
“We are working very closely with these groups to try to resolve this issue,” he said.
“Unfortunately, it spread to the mall, and it’s terrible that it spread to the mall on Broadway, where people were busy doing business.”

Eyewitnesses said they were horrified as young people fought in the dining area.
Eyewitness Brooke Ellen told news.com.au: “There were children taking Santa pictures and they looked so scared that parents were actually afraid their children would ask what was going on.”
An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were charged with affray in connection with the alleged incident this week.
Other charges show that seven teenage boys and one man were charged.
Of the eight people charged, one is 18, another is 17, two are 16 and four are 15.
All before the courts.
