Fury at Trump for ‘endless war’ as millions of young men set to be auto-enrolled in the military draft… including a ‘sick’ twist for illegal immigrants

Critics of President Donald Trump are outraged by the Pentagon’s plans to automate the military draft; It’s a change the President initiated by signing into law in December.

Since then, Trump has ordered US troops into Venezuela to capture dictator Nicolas Maduro and gone to war with Iran despite promising in the 2024 election campaign to keep the country out of wars ‘forever’.

So when the Selective Service System, the agency overseeing the draft, submitted the ‘automatic registration’ rule change to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in late March, it raised eyebrows because now there is a battle to fight.

‘There will be automatic registration for the US military draft starting in December,’ said Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Charles Booker. ‘On the one hand, Republicans want to make it harder to VOTE.’

‘On the other hand, they want your loved ones to be automatically registered to serve in an endless war abroad,’ the former state MP added.

Failed Democratic congressional candidate Qasim Rashid echoed that sentiment.

“Somehow automatic voter registration is not possible – but automatic registration in the draft program is both possible and now necessary.” Sent to X on Wednesday. ‘MAGAs don’t want to make it easier for young people to vote; He just wants to make it easier for them to die in Trump’s illegal wars.’

Rashid also noted that Trump’s strict stance on immigration is also reflected in politics.

‘Any immigrant who does not register within 30 days after turning 18 can be subject to criminal action,’ he said.

The rule itself is not new, but it has come under new scrutiny amid Trump’s sweeping crackdown on illegal immigration.

The automatic draft registration provision was included in the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act passed by Congress in December and signed by Trump.

Automatic enrollment of eligible men aged 18-25 is expected to begin in December 2026.

This does not mean that the President will reintroduce the bill; it merely changes how men will be registered if called upon.

Under current federal law, men who turn 18 must register with the Selective Service System in case they are drafted.

Americans haven’t been drafted since Vietnam; The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were fought entirely by volunteer forces.

None of this stopped Trump from raising the specter of the draft to scare voters away from his rival, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.

‘Is there anyone in the audience who wants to be drafted?’ he asked at a Las Vegas rally in September 2024.

‘Because that’s what they do. He’s already talking about bringing back the draft. “Trump wants to bring back the draft, draft your child and put them in a war that should never have happened,” he said.

The explanations were confusing enough To check PolitiFact’s accuracy – Harris never brought up the military draft during the campaign.

“We have no idea what she’s talking about,” a spokesperson for Harris said at the time.
