Fury vs Makhmudov: Tyson Fury in high spirits as he takes aim at Oleksandr Usyk & Tottenham

A smiling Fury made his entrance in typical fashion; He went on stage and sang to the crowd, immediately crossing the street to shake Mahmudov’s hand.

There was little animosity between the two during fight week. Fury even blew a kiss to his rival during his promotional appearance earlier in the week.

The press conference itself felt at times like a repeat of the previous launch press conference where the fight first appeared. Despite the host’s efforts to start a war of words, Makhmudov rarely moved back and forth.

Makhmudov spent most of his time staring at his phone, drawing criticism from heavyweight great Lennox Lewis, who attended the TV broadcast.

The 36-year-old actor tackled an unconventional training method: wrestling a bear. “But I don’t want to try it anymore because it was too scary,” he added.

Eventually, Fury came into the spotlight as he posted a record of 34 wins, 24 knockouts, two defeats and one draw in 37 fights.

He described himself as “fast, resourceful, handsome and destructive”.

“I never lost my responsiveness. I’m still 100%,” he added. “I’m looking for as good a performance as possible [nearly] 16 months out. “I must have done 500 laps of training to prepare.”

The ‘Gypsy King’ then headed there to join the broadcast team, where he was heard shouting: “I’m on top of the world, baby.”
