Gandhi Hospital Hit By Power Cuts, Patients Express Distress

Hyderabad: When one entered the main building of Gandhi Hospital around 12 pm on Wednesday, amidst quiet corridors, patient attendants, facing power outages, were seen choosing corners of departments to rest and sleep.

The hospital’s on-duty RMO highlighted that none of the doctors could sleep properly on Tuesday night as they faced power outages and generator overload.

Patient attendants at the orthopedic and geriatric center and the radiology department told Deccan Chronicle: “There was a power outage for a while and then it was constantly interrupted. Some of us managed to sleep, while some of us could not.”

Hospital chief Dr. N. Vani said, “We encountered the problem but fixed it immediately after coordinating with TSSPDCL whose officials also visited the hospital. Due to air conditioners, there is more load on one of the transformers. The electrician had to switch the generator to automatic mode but the one in the main building had the problem. So, we also wrote to the Director of Medical Education for transportation of a transformer from the closed Gachibowli TIMS for assistance and this process continues as follows.”

BRS member Krishank wrote on X that there was no electricity for two hours on Tuesday night and called on the government to restore electricity.
